What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to address non-musical goals within a therapeutic relationship, provided by a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC). These goals may include:

🎵 Cognitive development
🎵 Social skill-building
🎵 Emotional expression and regulation
🎵 Gross and fine motor coordination
🎵 Language and communication enhancement

To become a Music Therapist, one must complete a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy, a 1,040-hour clinical internship, and pass the Board Certification Exam administered by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
